2/3/11 – If You Could See Prayer

My dear friend, Charlie Paparella, just shared with me a powerful vision.

Looking from the window of a hospital, it is easy to see the steeples of the surrounding churches. If you could see the prayers on Sunday mornings, what would it look like?

Then, what if you could look out the window of the church back at the hospital?

I wonder what the prayers would look like then?

A Woman! How could you possibly think of ordaining a woman in the Church of God?!

All of the Apostles were men! Paul said that a man is the head of a woman, that she should stay quiet – what in the world would make you think that a woman should have an ordained leadership position in the Church as an equal with a man?!

Many scriptural examples and arguments come to mind, but nothing more powerful than Matthew 28:10, where Jesus Himself commissioned, ordained, assigned and made responsible Mary – not one of the Disciples, but Mary – to reach out and tell others that He had risen: “Go and tell my brothers…” Is there anyone whose ordination could be more effective than Jesus Himself, for the most powerful message of His entire ministry?!

I agree in prayer with my Pastor that as the Church of God General Assembly finally decides on the ordination of women for full authority as bishop, there would be unity, softened hearts and opened ears to the leading of the Holy Spirit to what God wants.
